| Gemstone of the Month: Amethyst |

Amethyst is one of the most recognizable members of the Quartz family. Gem quality Amethyst displays a body color of purple to deep reddish purple in color.
Purple is often associated with royalty, wealth, and power. This passionate color is also considered to be sensuous and flamboyant making it a wonderfully romantic Valentine's Day gift!
Another fun fact is that the name Amethyst is derived from the Greek word meaning " not to intoxicate". It was believed to prevent or cure drunkenness. Elaborate goblets were fashioned in allegiance to this, unfortunately misguided belief! |

The Four C's:
Clarity |
Inclusions and blemishes within a diamond are ranked on a scale of perfection, or clarity, which ranges from FL (No visible characteristics under magnification) to I (Characteristics visible with the naked eye).
This grading method rates diamonds on the size, nature and positioning of the birthmarks.
To view inclusions, trained gemologists use a 10X magnifying loupe and examine the diamond from the top.
Don't be afraid to try viewing your diamond under magnification. It is both fascinating and educational. |
