Aquamarine with its soothing blue hue has long been associated with the ocean.

 

Ancient sailors carried with this beautiful gemstone with them believing that its powers would ensure safe travels.

 

Another fun fact is that the name Aquamarine means "water of the sea" in Latin.

The Four C's:
Cut
  WDE  
Refers to the quality of the actual cut of the diamond.
 
This aspect is often confused with the "shape" of the diamond. While certainly the shape of the diamond is an important factor, how well the diamond is cut is the aspect graded in this category. 
 
This is the only property of a diamond that is directly affected by man.

Elements of cut include:

  • Polish
  • Symmetry
  • Proportion

How well a diamond is cut directly affects its brilliance. The finer the cut of the diamond, the more valuable and beautiful it will be!

Blue gemstones are said to be the most sought after this spring.  Especially Blue topaz, Aquamarine, Turquoise, and Caribbean blue diamonds.  With purple and lavender hues, like Amethyst and Tanzanite following close behind.

 

Be sure not leave out green! Not just any green but the fiery green of Peridot gemstones. Lastly, black and white are still very hot.  This would include White diamonds, Black diamonds, Onyx, Black or White Pearls and Cubic Zirconia.

Caring for Your Aquamarine
Your Aquamarine can be cleaned with warm soapy water. It is also safe to use both Ultrasonic and Steam Cleaners if your Aquamarine is not heavily included.
 
You should avoid leaving your Aquamarine in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
